The Akorda residence hosted an official meeting ceremony of the President of our country. A guard of honor was lined up for the high-level guest. The national anthems of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan were played. Presidents Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Nursultan Nazarbayev reviewed the guard.
During negotiations in a narrow format, the issues of further developing cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, enhancing peace and security, have been discussed. The parties exchanged views on regional and international matters of mutual interest.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that the good neighborliness, partnership ties between our countries have been steadily consolidating.

On 16 March President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Suma Chakrabarti, who is on a visit to our country.
The Head of state, welcoming the guest, particularly underlined the significance of developing a mutually beneficial and long-term cooperation between Uzbekistan and the EBRD.
Prospective programs and projects in the sphere of supporting small business and entrepreneurship, banking and finance sector, infrastructure modernization, primarily in rural areas, as well as creating modern manufacturing facilities in an agro-industrial complex, chemical and petrochemical industry, metallurgy, electronics and other spheres were marked as priority spheres of colloboration.

At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the fifth round of Uzbekistan-Iran interdepartmental political consultations has taken place. A delegation led by Ebrahim Rahimpour, deputy minister of foreign affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, attended this round of political consultations.
During the meeting, there was discussion about the current state of and prospects for cooperation between Uzbekistan and Iran. It was said that both sides were interested in the further extension of relations in the trade and economic sphere and such areas as investment, transport and supply lines. It was also said that positive trends had been observed in the inter-state relations and in the development of these relations within the UN, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
In the course the discussion, it was said that regularly holding interdepartmental political consultations made it possible to discuss topical issues of the bilateral relations, to work out and put into action areas of cooperation serving the interests of Uzbekistan and Iran. There was an exchange of opinions on regional and international issues.

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has inspected construction projects to be implemented in the city of Bukhara.
In order to immortalise the memory of the country’s First President, one of Bukhara’s central streets will be named after Islam Karimov. A three-year project has been drawn up to improve this street and to construct modern buildings on both sides of it.
The Head of State said that this street should become good enough to bear the name of Islam Karimov and that qualified construction firms should carry out the work.
The President examined a project of construction of a sports complex to be built at the intersection of Islam Karimov Street and Ibn Sino Street.
This complex is to be put into use in the year 2018. The complex will make it possible to conduct competitions in 15 sports on republican and international levels. It will have three gyms, a pool, a tennis court and a hall with a seating capacity of 3,500. This complex will be an exemplary centre for training sportsmen, upgrading coaches’ qualifications and for sport methodology.

According to Resolution of the President of the Republic Uzbekistan dated April 19, 2013 #PP-1958 on measures for further improvement of the meliorative condition of irrigated lands and rational use of water resources for 2013 – 2017 and Resolution of the President of the Republic Uzbekistan dated December 23, 2016 #PP-2697 on the Investment Program of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2017, the Department on management of Meliorative improvement Fund of irrigated lands plans to disburse funds for the following activities, in particular:
- measures for the construction and reconstruction of 735.0 km of open and 349 km of closed collector-drainage networks, 6 pcs. Position Title: Bridge Engineer
• University degree in Construction or road engineering; in economics and project management;
• Work experience (5 years and more) in this specialization, including experience in the investment projects financed by international financial institutions.
Personal qualities: ability to clearly explain the idea of the plan and drawings, to analyze information and evaluate solutions, confident decision-making, excellent organizational, communication and management skills, the ability to manage and lead the team, logical thinking and ability to cooperate with others, the ability to work with medium budget and timing, good team work, a thorough knowledge of the local legislation.
1. Knowledge of Uzbek, Russian and English;
2. Higher education in the construction and road engineering;
3. Work experience (3 years and more) in international organizations, mainly in projects of the reconstruction / rehabilitation of roads and artificial structures, knowledge of FIDIC standards and local legislation on the regulation of road construction;
4. The certificates / licenses for supervising the road construction and engineering structures, as well as the possession of special knowledge on the application of standards AASHTO, BS;
5. Good computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office applications;
6. Good knowledge of written and spoken English is an advantage.

The Republic of Uzbekistan has applied for financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Regional Roads Rehabilitation Project, and intends to apply part of the proceeds toward payments under the contracts for Rehabilitation of Regional Roads in Tashkent Region.
The Republican Road Fund under Ministry of Finance now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for rehabilitation works on 10 regional roads in Tashkent region. The works are divided into 2 lots, representing 5 sections each for respectively 62 km and 25 km. Works include carriageway reconstruction and related ancillary works, bridge refurbishment and reconstruction, and electrical works (lighting) on urban sections.
Bidding will be conducted through the International Competitive Bidding procedures as specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement of Goods, Works and Non-Consulting Services under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits & Grants by World Bank Borrowers dated January 2011 and revised July 2014 (“Procurement Guidelines”), and is open to all eligible bidders as defined in the Procurement Guidelines. In addition, please refer to paragraphs 1.6 and 1.7 setting forth the World Bank’s policy on conflict of interest.
