Insurance services are one of the means of protecting economy from all sorts of financial risks. However, the place of such services in domestic financial market is still insignificant.

Over the past six months of 2019, the volume of insurance premiums collected by specialized organizations increased by 1.5 times compared to the same period of 2018. 50 thousand soums of insurance premiums are accounted for per capita per person.

A new poultry complex in Muzrabat district has recently started its activities. 7 chicken coops, 2 chickeries and an administrative building were built on the territory of the complex with an area of 10 hectares. Investment is the main driving force of economic development. Therefore, this issue is in the center of constant attention of the Head of the state. 2019 was declared in Uzbekistan as the Year of Active Investments and Social Development. The Ministry for Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan was established to improve the efficiency of activities in this direction.

At the meeting it was noted that certain activity has been implemented on business development and creating jobs through attracting investment in domestic economy, but this is still not enough.

There are not enough investment personnel. Activity with investors needs to be improved, the existing infrastructure should be developed. Therefore, we still have much to do in this sphere, to learn a lot. The country will not develop without foreign investment, said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The project of this enterprise is implemented in three stages. The first stage was put into operation in December 2018. 100 sewing enterprises from China and Turkey were installed. More than 70 women are employed here.

At the second stage of the project, it is planned to start production of denim with creation of 240 jobs. The third stage envisages yarn production. It is planned that the company will reach full capacity by 2021, which will create about 800 jobs.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev gave important instructions on development of enterprise’s activities. The President noted the need for paying constant attention to ensuring employment of women.

On January 29, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on the analysis of effectiveness of measures taken in Uzbekistan to improve monetary policy and foreign trade.

At the meeting it was noted that limitations and problems associated with free purchase and sale of currency, which were a serious obstacle to development of the economy and activities of entrepreneurs were eliminated in Uzbekistan. If before, when there was a requirement for mandatory sale of export earnings part, the use of foreign exchange earnings from exports in the domestic market amounted to 30 percent, then after the cancellation of such conditions, this figure reached 61 percent.

As a result, organizations became able to purchase necessary raw materials and equipment for them, provide current and investment needs. Last year, the volume of industrial production grew by 14.4 percent, export earnings by 19 percent, the volume of currency sold by exporters to banks increased 1.9 times.

On January 24, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with investment projects that are scheduled to be implemented in the city of Tashkent in 2019.

The Head of the state at the extraordinary session of Tashkent City Kengash of people’s deputies held on December 21, 2018 noted the need for attracting representatives of large businesses and potential investors to the capital, creating the most favorable investment climate in the city.

In this regard, on January 4 this year, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan adopted a resolution “On additional measures for attracting foreign direct investment in infrastructure development of the city of Tashkent”. In accordance with it, it is planned to attract 2.7 billion USD of foreign direct investment in the economy of Tashkent and implement 273 projects in 2019.

In January-December 2018, the number of newly created enterprises and organizations in the country reached 55.0 thousand, which is 14.0 thousand more than in the same period of January-December 2017.

According to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan, as of January 1, 2019, the number of operating enterprises with foreign capital amounted to 7560 units compared with the same period last year. It increased by 2043 units or 37.0%. Most of them belong to the subject of the Russian Federation, the Republic of Turkey, the People’s Republic of China, the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Korea.

The oil and gas industry has an important place in the economy of the country. It is a key source of raw materials for production of polymers, organic chemicals and nitrogen fertilizers necessary for many sectors of the economy.

Over the past two years, as a result of measures taken in the industry, gas production increased by 10 percent, natural gas supply increased by 15 percent, and liquefied gas by 1.6 times.

During this period, the refineries produced an additional 204 thousand tons of petroleum products, and the domestic market’s demand for petrol and diesel fuel is fully satisfied.

More than 90 children are brought up in “Wunderkinds in Kungirad” kindergarten, organized in a citizens’ gathering of Kungirad village on the basis of public-private partnership.

In January-October 2018, according to preliminary data, the volume of rendered market services was equal to 118965.1 billion UZS. Compared to the same period last year, the growth rate amounted to 108.5%.

According to Uzbekistan State Statistics Committee, the structure of rendered market services was dominated by transportation services (29.6%), trade services (27.1%), financial services (14.1%), communications and information services (6.7%)

The most low-cost and effective way of preventing diseases is to promote a healthy lifestyle and proper nutrition. Unfortunately, due to a sedentary lifestyle and poor nutrition, half of the population of Uzbekistan is overweight, 46 percent have high blood cholesterol, and 31 percent have high blood pressure.

At the meeting, devoted to the analysis of results of ongoing reforms in development of healthcare system, the need was noted for strengthening disease prevention through promotion of a healthy lifestyle and a culture of proper nutrition among the population.

The parliamentarians of both countries discussed bilateral cooperation at negotiations in the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. Chair of the Council Valentina Matviyenko accepted the invitation of her colleagues to visit Tashkent with an official visit. It is expected to take place next year. This is reported by “Vmeste-RF” (“Together-RF”) TV channel of the Federation Council.

Uzbekistan and Russia continue to increase mutually beneficial cooperation, the trade turnover is growing rapidly. The regions of the two countries began to communicate more actively, inter-parliamentary cooperation strengthened.

It is noteworthy that last year the trade turnover between the two countries reached five billion dollars, and this year, according to experts, it will grow by another billion.

On November 6-8, 2018, delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan led by the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Nigmatilla Yuldashev will pay an official visit to the Russian Federation. 

The program of the visit includes negotiations in the city of Moscow with heads of chambers of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, participation at the meeting of the Commission on Cooperation of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis and the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly, a roundtable of business representatives of the two countries in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry dedicated to deepening Uzbekistan – Russia cooperation in trade-economic sphere.

On October 31, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on issues of integrated development of agriculture, widespread introduction of innovative technologies into the sphere, increasing the export of products.

On October 30, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting to discuss the expected results of the State budget execution in the current year, the main macroeconomic indicators and directions of fiscal policy for 2019.

The main events of the visit took place on October 19.
